Dr. Greenberg is a Psychiatrist at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School (HMS). She graduated from Weill Cornell Medical College (with Alpha Omega Alpha honors), and completed her general psychiatry residency at Harvard Longwood and her child/adolescent fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean where she served as chief resident in both programs. Dr. Greenberg is a co-Director of the MGH Tourette Association of America (TAA) Center of Excellence, the co-president of the Medical Advisory Board of the TAA, and was on the Scientific Advisory Board of the TLC Foundation for BFRBs. Her interests include Tourette syndrome (TS), OCD, “Tourettic OCD,” ADHD, body-focused repetitive behavior disorders (BFRBs), and other Tourette syndrome spectrum conditions. She has authored several peer-reviewed manuscripts on TS, OCD, and related disorders, conducted research on the overlap and treatment of TS and co-occurring disorders, and has presented on these conditions nationally and internationally.

Dr. Geller’s research career has been devoted to the study of pediatric OCD and related disorders, their phenotypes, clinical correlates, familial patterns of inheritance, and treatment. He authored the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Practice Parameters for the Assessment and Treatment of OCD in Children and Adolescents, as well as the International College of Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders and Canadian Mood and Anxiety Disorders Treatment guidelines, which together document the standard of care for management of early-onset OCD in the USA and internationally. Dr. Geller is a founding member of the International OCD Genetics Consortium and received a NIMH career development award to conduct a family genetic study of pediatric OCD and subsequently assembled one of the largest cohorts of subjects ever studied, recruiting over 500 participants and publishing extensively on the findings. Early in the history of Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infections (PANDAS), he was an investigator in the NIH-funded Tourette Syndrome Study group, a 2-year prospective controlled study of youth with PANDAS. Dr. Geller has been a site investigator for numerous industry and investigator-initiated medication trials since 1991 for pediatric OCD, Tourette Syndrome, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and anxiety and depression, including nearly all of the original pharmacotherapy FDA registration trials for pediatric OCD. Additionally, he has been principal investigator or co-investigator in a number of NIH-funded grants, including the OCD Collaborative Genetics study.

Dr. Geller is a triple board-certified pediatrician, psychiatrist, and child psychiatrist, a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Fellow of both the American and European College of Neuropsychopharmacology, and an executive board member of the International College of Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders. He is the recipient of several honors and awards in medicine and developmental pediatrics, notably from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation and Tourette Syndrome Association. Since 2013, he has held the Mittelman Family Chair in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at MGH. Dr. Geller is a Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and continues to teach, provide clinical care, and conduct research with a focus on OCD, anxiety disorders, and Tourette’s Syndrome in youth.

Dr. Gipson is a graduate of Louisiana State University (LSU) Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She completed the general psychiatry residency at the LSU-Ochsner Psychiatry Residency Training Program and her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital/HMS, where she also served as Chief Fellow. Her clinical background is in treating severe mental health disorders with interdisciplinary teams through a comprehensive approach, and she served as the lead physician for both inpatient adolescent units at Boston Children’s Hospital and Stanford University School of Medicine. Her clinical and research interests include OCD, trauma, depression, and anxiety, as well as the impact and utility of mobile technology in mental health.

Brittney Scavotto is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with an MSN from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions and MS in psychology from Tulane University. She had two years of experience as a psychiatric nurse before joining our clinic. She completed her internship with the Pediatric OCD and Tics Disorder Clinic under Dr. Greenberg and is very excited to be returning! She will be seeing patients for medication follow-up as well as brief psychotherapy supportive sessions.

Rachel Veenbaas (she/her) is a board certified psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner with an MSN from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professions. She has one year of experience working in inpatient psychiatry as a mental health specialist and two years of experience working as an inpatient psychiatric nurse before joining our clinic. She completed her clinical internship under Brittney Jurgen and Dr. Greenberg. She will be seeing patients for medication management and follow-ups.

Lilian Ebner, M.D., is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Pediatric Psychiatry OCD and Tic Disorders Program at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She earned her medical degree from the Medical University of Vienna in Austria in 2024, completing parts of her training in Munich, Berlin, and Washington, D.C., supported by the Max Kade Fellowship of the American Austrian Foundation. Her research focuses on pediatric OCD, tic disorders, ADHD, and body-focused repetitive behavior disorders (BFRBs), including skin-picking disorder and hair-pulling disorder. She is passionate about advancing the understanding and clinical care for individuals with these complex and often overlapping neuropsychiatric conditions.

Paula Downes has worked in the field of Psychiatry for over 35 years. Her career has encompassed administrative roles in both clinical care and research in a variety of settings including Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital at the Texas Medical Center, and the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.  She is currently the Program Manager for the Pediatric Psychiatry Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Tic Disorders Program at Mass General Hospital.

Elizabeth (Betty) Hayes joined our team in January 2023 as a Patient Service Coordinator and is the front line for our patients and clinicians.   Betty comes to us with over 22 years of experience as a claims processor/administrative assistant in the risk management department at Tufts Medical Center.

Pam Smethurst is our Resource Specialist who earned her Master of Liberal Arts in Psychology from Harvard University Extension School and her BA from Clark University.  She helps our families by connecting them to community care and support.  She also works with parents to better understand and navigate available behavioral health services and resources.

Madeline Morton graduated summa cum laude from the College of the Holy Cross with a B.A. in Psychology. During her time at Holy Cross, she was a research assistant in the Gender-Role Development Lab under Dr. Danuta Bukatko, where she investigated the barriers college students face in pursuing leadership roles on campus. She also worked in the Adolescent Development Lab with Dr. Alison Ludden, analyzing the impact of energy drinks and caffeine consumption on adolescents’ mental health and school-related outcomes. Additionally, Madeline was a JD Power Research Associate and received funding to examine the impacts of mentorship in the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) program, focusing on adolescents’ depression, sleep, and substance use outcomes. As an undergraduate, she was also a family support intern at the Carriage House Grief Support Program, facilitating grief counseling for children and leading caregiver group sessions. Most recently, as a Clinical Research Intern at the Depression Clinical and Research Program at MGH, she was primarily involved in a study investigating the efficacy of ketamine for treatment-resistant mood disorders.  Madeline is passionate about improving access to effective, evidence-based treatments for young people with mood and anxiety-related disorders. At CORD, she works under Dr. Daniel Geller on studies of pediatric OCD and Tourette’s Syndrome, and afterwards hopes to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology.
