Hi there I am the mother of a 17 year old son entering senior year in high school. My son was diagnosed 3 years ago with pure OCD, and has been treated pretty successfully for the past 3 years. He does great in school, is super active in school and seems happy at home. Great news! He now sees his therapist on school vacations and less frequently. However as he enters his final year of high school he basically has no friends. His therapist has said it is social anxiety as a result of OCD. I know his classmates like him. I can see it and he has many relationships in school. But weekends he is alone. I have suggested to him that he is giving messages to friends at school that he is not interested in hanging out with them. I am wondering if anyone has seen this trait. I think he is ready for more intensive treatment – but I have searched everything OCD related and do not see this as an extension of OCD. I am in the process of trying to locate a therapist on Cape Cod where we are in the summer to help him work on some of this. In the meantime any therapist names would be helpful, but also, anyone else who has seen this trait and has any interest.
