I am writing in regards to my 7 y/o son. He has a history of strep infections and had his tonsils removed 2 years ago. His strep infections were so bad they had to keep him on antibiotics in order to get him healthy enough for surgery and his tonsils were still infected upon removal. The infections started early in life but he started displaying severe anxiety and OCD around the age of four after a series of multiple strep infections. He was infection free after his tonsils were removed but just got another infection last week (November, 28).
As a social worker I have gotten him the best care available in our area but I have not been able to find a provider who understands PANDAS or PANS enough to test him for it. My son has been doing very well but has experienced severe mood changes and an increase in anxiety and OCD symptoms since his positive strep test last week. Can you recommend a physician in MA who could test him for this?
we have just recruited Dr Kyle Williams from Yale to run a pandas clinic at Mass General Hospital. he is just now getting the clinic up and running. i suggest you have your son see him. his email address is:
all best wishes,
