I am a 42 female that is taking Anafranil, Litihium, Tranxene and Geodon for the treatment of my OCD. I am still struggling with dark obsessive thoughts, mostly of me killing myself or hurting one of my children. I am trying to figure out a better way to cope with this without getting too anxious but I am not having much success. Any suggestions are appreciated.
you need to be in cognitive behavior therapy. medication is only part of the answer and is usually not even the most effective treatment. the book “The Imp of the Mind” by Lee Baer is very good at explaining how to manage obsessive thoughts. all best wishes,

I have been in cognitive behavior therapy for almost a year and I am still struggling. I just get so anixious that I feel like I am out of control.
I have purchased and read the book that you recommended above and it was excellent. Can you recommend any other books or websites that might be of benefit?
Thank you for your help,
Amy
Any suggestions would be welcomed. I am really struggling here.
if things continue to be difficult despite outpatient therapy, you might consider a residential OCD facility like the OCD Institute at McLean Hospital outside of Boston or the Rogers Hospital OCD facility in Wisconsin. you can get more information at http://www.ocfoundation.org or by doing a Google search. all best wishes,
